Na Layan House is a private residence that blends daily living with an intimate chef's table dining experience. Located on a corner site in Choeng Thale, Phuket, the project was designed for a couple who wanted to integrate their culinary practice into their home while maintaining spatial clarity and privacy. The design provides two distinct entry sequences to support domestic and hospitality uses: a private entrance on the south for the homeowners and a guest entrance on the west for diners. Inside, an open-plan layout with double-height volumes creates a sense of continuity and spaciousness. A sculptural spiral staircase anchors the plan, serving both circulation and visual focus. The open kitchen is designed around an L-shaped counter and a central island, allowing guest interaction during food preparation. Indoor dining accommodates six, with additional outdoor seating for twelve, supporting both intimate and extended gatherings. The architecture reinterprets Phuket's Sino-Portuguese heritage through contemporary applications of Chinese Flowering Crabapple pattern ventilation blocks, timber louvers, and decorative elements. A gable roof with extended eaves protects from sun and rain, while strategically placed openings enhance natural ventilation and daylight—ideal for the tropical climate.
